Hurricane 04:00
Time goes by so slowly in the dark. While I rush by like hurricane, tearing apart. The walls are closing in. I am not sure where I should begin. I can feel a little breath of wind on my face. And I fall down. While your hands are trying to pin me to the ground. I can hear the rain As I start to slowly go insane. Things will never be same again in my head. All the houses and the trees Are tumbling in my little breeze. I wish I could bring you to your knees but I won’t. And I fall down While your hands are trying to pin me to the ground. Hurricane, Hurricane, Hurricane. Fourteen miles high, Stretching back across the sky. I’m so angry I could cry for a year. Oh the room is spinning round, It’s banging with my stormy sound. I wish I could smash it to the ground but I won’t. And I fall down While your hands are trying to pin me to the ground. Hurricane, Hurricane, Hurricane. I’m a Hurricane, I’m a Hurricane, I’m a Hurricane.

The lies, the pain, the endless rain The fear my dear and all those queer little moments That make up your day. The drink, the gin, the state you’re in, The highs, the lows, you would bite your nose in a moment To save you from grace... Stormy light, from all your restless fantasies Blows through my eyes and steals my mind I’m a boy without time. I am reminded of the intricacies That brought me to my knees. I’m boy without time… especially mine. The dark of night, the endless flight, The fear I cheered and all those solitary moments That made up my day. The glass, the scars, the time at the bar The pride I hide, when I just wish I’d died in a moment To save my own face. Stormy light, from all your restless fantasies Blows through my eyes and steals my mind I’m a boy without time. I am reminded of the intricacies That brought me to my knees. I’m boy without time… especially mine. We’re stuck in groove with nothing prove and nobody’s getting too far Drawn to the flames that are causing the pain in our hearts. But out of the fire our power grows higher and if we remember our name All of the falls that we caused become just a game. Stormy light, from all your restless fantasies Blows through my eyes and steals my mind I’m a boy without time. I am reminded of the intricacies That brought me to my knees. I’m boy without time… especially mine. All that it takes is for us to just let it go. Lift up our eyes to the sun and we can glow. Open our hearts to the love and start to flow. All that it takes is for us to just let it go.

Winter 03:42
I am the cold in December. Since the day I was born I’ve always run. I am the wind that cuts through you. Since the day I was born I’ve always run. We’re heading for the fire. The more we fall beneath the whole sky. We’re feeding our desires, From the moment we’re born till the moment we die. I am the frost on the windows. Since the day I was born I’ve always run. I am the snow on the mountains. Since the day I was born I’ve always run. We’re heading for the fire. The more we fall beneath the whole sky. We’re feeding our desires, From the moment we’re born till the moment we die. When you’re facing the sun and all you see for miles is nothing but clouds. Just look at how far you’ve come before the maddening crowd. And I won’t let you forget that all of your words are bound deep in my heart The darkness is where we planted the seeds, there’s nowhere left to start. I am forever before you. Since the day I was born I’ve always run.

Silver 04:12
Silver light and fireflies Brought you here. Fall in deep - abandon sleep. Eyes so bright, set my sights on higher ground. I have been alone from time to time. Changing plans to suit my state of mind. I’ll find my paradise in spite of what they say. I’ve gotten thin on ground and skin I’m echoing. Divide the line, what’s yours was mine. Devote some time, try to climb into the sun. I have been alone from time to time. Changing plans to suit my state of mind. I’ve found my paradise in spite of what you say. I have been alone from time to time. Changing plans to suit my state of mind. I’ve found my paradise in spite of what they say.

My Only Wish 03:38
Dreams of fallen places drifting through your mind Holding back the river, stand on solid time My only wish to you is that you’ll find your smile Superstitious natural, it’s in your eyes. Feels like friends are only there until they’ve all gone home Maybe you can’t imagine you’re not on your own My only wish to you is that you’ll find your smile Superstitious natural, it’s in your eyes. Hold it down, thinking that you can’t go round Another time, don’t give up your life. Seeing with my perfect eyes I realise not fantasise at all Seeing with my perfect eyes I realise not fantasise at all There’s always time to catch your fall. Just because its sunset doesn’t mean the end An overflow of motion sets the world on spin. My only wish to you is that you’ll find your smile. Superstitious natural, it’s in your eyes. Hold it down, thinking that you can’t go round Another time, don’t give up your life. Seeing with my perfect eyes I realise not fantasise at all You play the game, it’s not the same, I’ve listened to your tears. Don’t deny what you and I created all these years. Seeing with my perfect eyes I realise not fantasise at all Seeing with my perfect eyes I realise not fantasise at all. There’s always time to catch your fall.

If I was small enough to fit in your pocket, I’d move in tomorrow and buy myself a chair and I’d live there. You and me could talk for hours as the sunshine Pours through the walls of your pocket that I have crawled, I’m starting to fall. Days spent with you feel just like a dream. You got me just where you to be With you in the patchwork of your heart. The tapestry is made of mystery, The faded threads from all of history Brought me to your pocket patchwork heart. If I was small enough to fit in your pocket I’d move in tomorrow and buy myself a chair and I’d live there. All the rag tag pieces of our previous releases Have frayed us at the edges but I feel like I’ve come home, you’re not alone. Days spent with you feel just like a dream. You got me just where you to be With you in the patchwork of your heart. The tapestry is made of mystery, The faded threads from all of history Brought me to your pocket patchwork heart. We’re patching our hearts, O-way-O-way-Oh. We’re patching our hearts, O-way-O-way-Oh. Oh, we’re patching our pocket patchwork hearts. If I was small enough to fit in your pocket, I’d move in tomorrow and buy myself a chair and I’d live there.

Hold fire tonight, something don’t feel right We’re going for a flight, you better hold on tight I can feel it under my skin Lost in the trees, crawling on my knees The ground starts to freeze, as you reach for me. I can feel it under my skin Flames burn wrapped around like twins I don’t know where you stop and I begin When the whole world turns to fire We’ll face it with our hands high, eyes bright, arms spread wide. In the darkness of the night, We’ll let our souls flow entwined, inside, as our hearts collide. Travelling through time, we have outlived the shine Of the stars in the sky, in the dawn we’ll fly I can feel it under my skin Flames burn wrapped around like twins I don’t know where you stop and I begin When the whole world turns to fire We’ll face it with our hands high, eyes bright, arms spread wide. In the darkness of the night, We’ll let our souls flow entwined, inside, as our hearts collide. When we stop the blaming, naming little games That shame the natural power that is flowing in our veins We’ll see each other eyes ignited by the light And move beyond the limits of other people’s minds And time is just a joke cos we never get it done So stop living in the shadows of someone else’s sun Then finally the madness will get a chance to rest because The power is in you, it is beating in your chest. The power is in you.

Love, Love 03:42
This is the story of a girl, The story of a boy, The story of a child, A story of a toy, Dancing to a rhyme that was made a long time ago There was a little bit of this, A little bit of that, A little bit of love, That’s really all that matters, When somebody comes along and writes another song for you. But when it all goes wrong And it’s starting to show Stand up and be strong Even though it seems like you don’t know which way to go… I said Love, love, give it everything you Know, know, got a little seed to Sow, so look them in the eyes and grow. A million pretty songs A million pretty beats A million pretty girls Two million pretty feet Dancing to a rhyme that was made a long time ago. Maybe it’s the water Maybe it’s the wine Maybe it’s the weather Maybe it’s the time Everybody sing along to a song that we all know. But when it all goes wrong And it’s starting to show Stand up and be strong Even though it seems like you don’t know which way to go… I said Love, love, give it everything you Know, know, got a little seed to Sow, so look them in the eyes and grow. Look them in the eyes, look them in the eyes Look them in the eyes, look them in the eyes, Look them in the eyes and grow. Look them in the eyes, look them in the eyes Look them in the eyes, look them in the eyes, Look them in the eyes and grow.

Volcano 04:05
I’m burning up, I’m gonna blow my top If I just don’t stop, I might fall in the volcano. I need a sign, before I lose my mind, In case I fall into the volcano. My head says no but my heart says go And I just don’t know if I should jump into the volcano. It’s getting higher, I’m full of fire, Feels like I’m inside my own volcano. When all I wanted is an idea to guide me through the fires in my heart. I need to start again, reset my frame and then I can reclaim my name, Reclaim my name, reclaim my name. It’s getting clear, gotta lose my fear Because the time is near for me to run toward the volcano I’m standing tall, breaking down the walls I’m going to leap into the volcano! When all I wanted is an idea to guide me through the fires in my heart. I need to start again, reset my frame and then I can reclaim my name, Reclaim my name, reclaim my name. The pounding, grounding, bounding, growling, howling, yowling, Leaping, seeping, creeping, storms that burn into my eyes. I’ve fallen countless times, I’m crawling past the lines I’ve drawn inside my mind, it’s time for me to rise! For me to rise! For me to rise! For me to rise! When all I wanted is an idea to guide me through the fires in my heart. I need to start again, reset my frame and then I can proclaim my name, Proclaim my name, Proclaim my name. Proclaim your name, proclaim your name, Proclaim your name, proclaim your name!

Did you walk out this time because you found… Another light in his heart that didn’t sound, Like a song that you have heard before? Tell me, do you think that he has closed the door? I don’t think you seem to mind the conversations lost in time You’re facing backwards, stumbling in the dark. It’s nothing but a primal fear that’s taken over your ideas If only you could see inside your heart! Did you walk out this time because you’d seen What you would be if you stopped and set him free From the storms that crash and thunder in your bright blue eyes? Tell me, do you think that you can see the truth and realise? I don’t think you seem to mind the conversations lost in time You’re facing backwards stumbling in the dark. It’s nothing but a primal fear that’s taken over your ideas Just turn around and look inside your heart. Maya, Maya Step into the fire, caught in the flames Burn the illusion away from your face.

about

This album is a flow of nature and emotions. It is human experience. It is alchemy, moving within us, taking us from pain back to joy. It is about the heart and returning to our centre. It is journey in time. A snapshot of what was and what will be.

Recorded in a shed in Tarifa at 432hz, Nature is a rootsy album. Acoustic, open and earthy. The sounds of birds and rain emerge from the guitars, vocals and cajon. The ever present wind of Tarifa inspires much of the music while the electric guitar offers a motif and flavour that runs through the whole album.

This album has been long in coming; 35 years dreaming, 25 years practicing, 15 years writing, 10 years hoping, 5 years recovering, 2 years planning, 6 months realising, 3 months making. I have much gratitude to many. Mum, for providing the dreaming and hours spent listening to her old vinyl; Granny, without whom this would not exist; my sisters, Becky and Emma, who always remind me of what really matters; Ginny and Henry, for being there at the right times; Matt Kemp who flowed in the same direction as me on all counts; the people whose help in previous projects helped lay the foundations for this one, Mike O’Hara, Andy Crawley, James WG, Francesco Bonini, Mark Lance; Mike Wolff for your awesome artwork and endless friendship; Joanne Jacobs for your brilliant photos; Carmen Libélula and Maria Moreno for your amazing voices, advice and friendship; Sheila Scott for believing in me a long time ago; Louise and Mira for your healing; Diana for your wisdom and guidance; the whole crew of friends, past and present whose energy and inspiration intertwines throughout these songs – Toby, Cari, Luke, Briony, Tom, Andy, Dan, Nick, Judd, Hannah, Sophie, Abby, Sally, Joseph, Laura, Glen, Fabian, Samuel, Babacar; to everyone who loves and supports independent music and still goes to gigs; to the venues and champions of live music, especially Paul Dunton; most of all to my Pushek, Paulina for putting up with me on a daily basis and supporting me in everything.
The road seems long sometimes, but courage and baby steps get you there. Keep dreaming. Keep moving.
